Happy Heads is a youth led non-profit initiative with 4 established chapters across the national capital.
Audrey Anderson

My name is Audrey Anderson, and I am a Grade 12 student from Ottawa, Ontario, and the Founder and President of Happy Heads. About a year ago, I began noticing that there were children and families in our community who did not have access to warm winter clothing. I wondered whether what I was seeing was actually a larger problem, so I started researching the issue online.
What I discovered was concerning. According to the Canadian Food Band, 1 in 4 families don’t have access to warm clothing.
I knew I wanted to do something to help make a difference. That is when I decided to start Happy Heads, a youth-led initiative dedicated to collecting new hats and making sure they reach children, youth, and families in our community who need them.
Once I had developed my plan, I reached out to other like-minded youth who shared my vision. I wanted Happy Heads to be bigger than a project at my own school. I wanted to create a city-wide youth initiative that would bring together young people, schools, organizations, and community members to make a meaningful difference.
Together, we are building a team of passionate youth who are committed to giving back and helping ensure that everyone can stay warm this winter.
Below, you can meet our Executive Team, followed by our Happy Heads Youth Ambassadors, who lead the campaign at their respective schools and organizations.
This is more than collecting hats. It is about young people coming together, taking action, and showing that even a small idea can make a big difference in our community.
One Hat, On Initiative, One Warmer Winter.
